A tiny princess!!

UPDATE ON JEWELS:  Jewels is a tiny ball of fire!  What an energetic little dog.  She is on the go from sunup to sundown and would really love a person who could take her places and go on long hikes.  She needs to burn off some of that energy.  When she first came to us, she was very sick, but now that she is feeling better, her true personality has come out.   She prefers to play with her humans when at home so doesn't really have a chance to burn that energy off by playing with the other dogs.  And when on hikes, she is way out in front of the pack.  The ideal home for Jewels would be: 1. single dog  2.  someone home most of the time   3.  someone to take her "bye-bye" in the car  4.  someone to take her on daily long hikes and 5.  someone to play with her when not on the go!

This 3 year old girl is really a little princess!  She is dainty, clean (she cleans her face like a cat!) and thinks dogs are ewww!  She was never raised around dogs, so really had no clue what they were until coming into foster.  She obviously thought she was a tiny human with four legs!

She is sooo funny - if the other dogs come near her, she shies away and gives them a look, like "how could you, you dirty thing"!  We think she'd do fine though, around a cat who wouldn't pay any attention to her or an small, older dog who doesn't really want to be bothered. 

She loves to sit in your lap and be cuddled, and will lay on her back and want her tummy scratched.  She arches her back like a cat when you stroke her on her back.  She gives little baby kisses and doesn't even mind being carried in a purse.  In fact, being the princess that she is, she wouldn't mind being carried around all day period! 

Jewels came to us from a woman who bought her from another person but then discovered that she had horrible ear infections and a bladder infection.  She bought her as a companion for her other small dog, but then discovered that she didn't really care to be a companion to another small dog!  That, combined with her ill health, prompted her to contact us. Jewels has made a complete recovery and would like a forever home that will spoil her for the rest of her life!  (Please, no kids under 8).

Adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea treatment, heartworm test and preventative, wormings, and all other medical care needed to ensure a healthy dog.  Fees vary, based on the care required, age and needs of the animal.  We rely strictly on our adoption fees since we don't receive any outside funding.

The adoption fees we require do not cover the medical expenses, let alone the daily cost of taking care of the dogs we hope to re-home. Additional expenses are out-of-pocket.

We are ALL volunteers; there are NO paid employees in our rescue. The adoption fee is used to help with veterinary care. All of the dogs in our care are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, are up to date on all vaccines, are heartworm tested and kept on year round heartworm prevention. If they have tested positive for heartworm - they will be treated. Any and all medical issues that our vets find or that arise while in foster care are treated.

WE DO NOT ADOPT OUR DOGS TO HOMES WITH UNALTERED PETS...NO EXCEPTIONS!

In order to adopt one of these wonderful pups you will be required to: Fill out an adoption application, provide a veterinary reference, agree to a telephone/email screening, have one of our representatives conduct a home visit, complete and sign an adoption contract, and pay an adoption fee.
