Rosalita has gone to her new forever home.  She has two wonderful moms to call her own, one of whom will be training with her to become a therapy dog!  Rosa can't have asked for anything more.  She so deserves the life she should have had from the beginning.

Hi, Barb Mom! It's me, Seniorita Rosalita Carmelita, sitting in Judy's lap a couple hours after we got to the hotel in Redding. I guess I have to share any available lap with a laptop, at least some of the time. Anyway, just wanted to say hi to my wonderful foster mom and Judy and Jen said they'll make sure I'll stay in touch! Thanks for being my Angel and giving me a second chance at life! I love you!
Hi Barbara,

It's going great! The cat is more leary of her than vice versa - he's
mostly been hiding under the bed since we got home. We introduced
them by having Judy hold him and cuddle him on the bed, and then I
brought her in and sat on the bed but kept holding her, so they could
just look at each other. As soon as we left the room, he went under
the bed. She's curious about him, but hasn't approached him directly
since he's hiding, but she does sniff under the bedskirt since she
knows that's where he is. But we just say no gently, and she comes
back out to the living room when we leave the room. She follows us
everywhere, so she only goes in the bedroom if we do.

She seems to be adapting fine. She uses the steps to go up onto the
recliner or couch, and she's busy finding every last crumb of every
last doggie cookie that the vacuum cleaner missed. (Kasti usually
wouldn't eat a whole cookie; she'd break it up into bits and eat
about half of them. The ones we didn't find by stepping on them with
bare feet (ouch!) are usually vacuumed up, but occasionally one gets
missed.)

When I was unloading the car last night, Judy said every time I went
back out the door she sat and waited, staring at the door. When I
came back in she ran to me (after Judy told her to "Wait" and then
"OK") and acted like she hadn't seen me in years. Last night Judy
taught her to dance - i.e., stand up on her hind legs and paw at the
air. She already knows "sit" and "wait" (thanks to you) and she seems
to understand that "uh-uh" means "come away from there" when she was
approaching the steps into the garage from the kitchen.

We posted a picture to your Resq Facebook page before we left Redding
yesterday. I'll send you some more tonight. It's just so wonderful
having a happy, playful pup in the house!

Have a great day!

I just had to send this to you, as it occurred last night not long after we had
spoken on the phone! Rosie was content to snuggle on Jen's lap... until she saw me
sit down in my chair with our cat, Buddy. Her head popped up and she started
squirming against Jen's constraint to keep her from leaping from Jen's lap. Upon
being set onto the floor, Rosie ran to my chair and jumped up on my lap. She
smothered me with kisses, then snuggled up against her feline brother. Buddy
didn'teven flinch at all her wriggling! So much for cat v. dog animosity!!
We'll continue to send you updates. Take care - Judy

Rosalita is a special girl - she was rescued from a Central California shelter, just hours away from euthansia along with her puppies.  We can't imagine the suffering this poor girl went through and she has such a wonderful personality!  She's happy, social, playful, sweet and loving.  She rides well in the car, is quiet - likes to go to the hardware store and be pushed in a shopping cart.  Everyone oohs and aahs over her which she likes.  Most people comment on how cute she is with one ear up and one down.   She's housetrained and uses the doggie door.

If you'll notice, she's the perfect combo of mini doxie and chi - she has the curvy front legs of the doxie, one erect ear of the chi and one droopy like the doxie.  She's long like a doxie too.   She is about 2 years old and has beautiful amber eyes which don't show up well in the pics.

The ideal home for this girl is someone who is on the go and can take her with them, and possibly another small dog to play with.  Her foster mom is going to hate giving this one up!  No young children please.
