|
Jack is a very sweet little boy who has had some terrible trauma in his life. Jack was either used as a bait dog or was in a dog fight and left to his own devices to heal. We think he was also physically abused by a person. Jack was running loose for several days, terrified and not letting anyone get near him. Our volunteer, Sheila, was finally able to coax this boy into letting her get near him and is now fostering him. Jack was covered with several bite wounds, some new, some older. Lots of infection and swelling. But with good care Sheila has healed this boy's physical wounds; she is doing a good job of healing the psychological wounds, but that will take time and patience.
Jack loves to sleep on the bed and is very food motivated. He will need a quiet household and someone who can see past the pain and be gentle with him. He can be very frightened around people he doesn't know, but with a gentle touch, quiet voice and neck rubbing he melts and his eyes soften. He is afraid, at first, of new dogs especially large dogs. Great with cats. If you think you can provide Jack with the loving, patient care he needs, please contact us via email or phone, or fill out our online application. Jack weighs about 10 lbs and is 2 years old.
As with most rescue/shelter dogs, he or she may or may not be housebroken, or at the least need a readjustment /re-training period. If you are not able or willing to retrain a dog with housebreaking in a gentle, repetitious manner please DO NOT APPLY. NEW DOGS REQUIRE SPECIAL HANDLING, TIME and CARE. MAKE SURE YOU ARE WILLING TO MAKE THIS COMMITMENT BEFORE APPLYING. We require adopters to first fill out our adoption app online. You cannot proceed with the adoption without it. This application has been developed using over 25 years of experience. It helps the adopter and us to make only the beginning of a good match.
WE DO NOT ADOPT OUR DOGS TO HOMES WITH UNALTERED PETS...NO EXCEPTIONS! WHY? CLICK ON SPAY/NEUTER ON THE LEFT HAND MENU.
In order to adopt one of these wonderful pups please see the side menu under adoption info.
