Bear is a lovable, 5  year old Boxer whose owners had to surrender him due to unexpected circumstances.  Bear is great with other dogs, kids, you name it.  He's a great dog, housetrained, obedient and affectionate.  He would love to have a hiking or jogging companion since he is very energetic. Bear will need some additional obedience training (he knows the basics) and someone who is strong enough to control him until he learns.  He is a powerful boy but very willing to learn and please.   No kids under 5 though, as Bear can be very exuberant and would probably knock them down.  Bear does not do well with alpha male dogs.  Is great around small dogs and non aggressive large dogs.  Bear's adoption fee is $150.

As with most rescue/shelter dogs, he or she may or may not be housebroken, or at the least need a readjustment /re-training period. If you are not able or willing to retrain a dog with housebreaking in a gentle, repetitious manner please DO NOT APPLY.  NEW DOGS REQUIRE SPECIAL HANDLING, TIME and CARE. MAKE SURE YOU ARE WILLING TO MAKE THIS COMMITMENT BEFORE APPLYING.
