UPDATE ON ROSE:  Rose is definitely better, but is still very shy with new people.  She is also afraid of changes and new situations, so her new family will have to be super aware of this, and help her through the transition period.  Rose will bolt at strange sounds or noises, especially outside in a new area.

Because of this, we'd like to adopt her out locally, so that we can make the transition a gradual one, scheduling play dates and overnighters.  (Locally, meaning within a half hour drive or in Redding itself.)

She is great in her own environment that she's used to and is unafraid to take on anybody and anything.  She puts the other dogs in their places when they need it and runs with the pack when outside.

Meet Rose. She's a sweet but afraid little one who was used for breeding purposes by a backyard breeder. She was kept in an enclosure in the backyard with about 10 other chihuahuas, so isn't used to being in the house and around alot of people like she is now in foster care.

She's getting used to all the sounds of a normal household routine, like the dishwasher and tv, people coming and going. She's a trooper though, and is weathering it all. She still has a tendency to run when she hears noises she isn't used to, but with time should get over some of this. She will probably always be timid, but she bonds strongly with one caregiver, as do most chihuahuas.

She loves to burrow into the blankets like a little wild animal hiding. She reminds me of a little fawn hiding from predators. We must seem so huge to her! But if you pick her up and love her, she is always ready to give kisses and snuggle.

Rose is only 2, so needs someone who will be with her for the rest of her natural life, which should be another 13 to 15 years. She also would like someone who would be home most of the time.

PLEASE no young kids or grandkids for Rose. Teenagers ok.

Please read about our adoption policies and procedures before calling or emailing with questions.  Many of your questions can be answered by reading our information.  Keep in mind that the first step toward adoption is to fill out an application.  Also, WE DO NOT SHIP!
