A shy guy in need of a patient, female caregiver

Andi has been adopted by a wonderful woman, who has the patience of a saint! Here's what she has to say:
Andi is a 6 - 7 year old, sweet little guy waiting for a special home of his own. We've been working with him to help get him ready for that big day. He was rescued from a puppy mill where he was kept in a small cage for most of his 6 years. He was very shy, almost feral since he wasn't used to human contact. In a puppy mill, the breeder dogs are ignored except to be given food and water, (if that!) so its no wonder he doesn't trust people.
His foster mom has done a wonderful job with socializing him. He now is approachable and will let you pet him. He needs a calm lap to sit on where he'll be coddled the rest of his days and learn that humans aren't all bad!
Andi would do best in a home with only small dogs for company, and absolutely no children. He is still very fearful and would need a calm, quiet environment.
Please read about our adoption policies and procedures before calling or emailing with questions. Many of your questions can be answered by reading our information. Keep in mind that the first step toward adoption is to fill out an application. Also, WE DO NOT SHIP!
All animals are bathed and groomed before adoption, vaccinated with proof of vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and also are sent home with a leash, collar or halter, toy and food to get you started.
Hi Barbara,
I've been so busy with the new "family challenge" that I
haven't been on line since Andy arrived. He has bonded with my daughter's
toy poodle so he has lots of big brother company. Yes, he has potty
issued, but that's know problem ...just keeps me busy. He sleeps with me
all night then I take him out in the back yard and he does his thing. I do
keep his leash on him at all times so I don't have to keep chasing him. It
will be some time before the leash goes off...but that's just being safe.
I have two places I can let him go outside that he is safe....a kennel inside
the fenced yard and down at my fenced in froggy pond. I take him to the
pond and let go while I do some yard work. We have to work on his nipping
issues, but it takes time to develop trust. I'd say he has a perfect home
with the perfect facilities. He is a handful...but well worth it and I
know my other babies who are no longer with us would be happy knowing we are
saving another little life. Thank you so much....Ann
Andy continues to do better....only bit my heart-sister five times so far, ha!! But....Traci *ann's daugher) is still and always will be his God! Ann
I finally went with Andy's heart and let him be with Traci full time....he always loved her....you can't control love. Ann
