Belu was adopted by a wonderful couple from Portland who also have another large min pin and are very familiar with the breed.  Both work but have varying schedules so the dogs are never alone for more than a couple of hours.  They love to go hiking and to the dog park as often as possible.  Belu loved his new brother and they got along great - playing like the characters they both are.  Belu finally has  the home we've all waited so long for!

Here's what his new dad has to say:
Hi Barbara,

Week one under our belt and all is fine!

With all the B's in Bentley and Belu (and the fact that we call Bentley just B sometimes) we were worried it would be a little confusing, so we decided to rename the little guy....he has picked up on it straight away which is nice and so I give you....(and as I'm British, to keep the posh British theme going!)....

Bentley & Jeeves!

He is doing just great.  The two dogs are very similar in some respects but so different in others.  Bentley is definitely the clown, and Jeeves is a little calmer and serious (can you believe it!!!!)...although I wonder how much of that has just been the new environment as he seems to have become a lot more comfortable throughout the week

I thought Bentley would be the dominant one, but there seems to be no real hierarchy at the moment, they'll both give in now again when playing (and they PLAY!).  He can be a little nervous, but seems totally settled now with Kim and I, so we're trying to socialize him as much as we can.  We had a trip to the vet and a nail trim (all was fine) and we've had dog park outings where they seem to stick together and give all the big dogs a run for their money!

We were a little concerned about the potty training on day 1, but he was such a quick learner, and fingers crossed we cracked it in the first 48 hours and have had no accidents since!  Barking has not been a problem (although he is definitely more vocal than Bentley).  I LOVE his coyote howl...I've only heard him do it twice randomly, but wish I could make him do it on command!!!! :-)

Belu was given up by his owner whose circumstances changed and she could no longer care for him. Min Pins are a very active, social breed who prefer to have their humans with them most of the time.

He would make a wonderful jogging, hiking or biking companion.  He is 1.5 years old, very muscular, and loves to run.  He does great at the dog park chasing all over, and sometimes we go twice a day to drain that energy.  He would love another active doggie companion to play with.

He is extremely affectionate, and bonds quickly.  He's also quite the character, and will keep you laughing with his antics. As with all Min Pins though, he needs a strong human pack leader to set rules, boundaries and limitations!
Teenagers ok, but no younger kids.

Although he's a rather delicate-looking toy breed, the Min Pin is a sturdy dog with a dynamite personality. If given the chance, this King of Toys will rule you and your household. If you're considering owning one, you must be willing and able to be a strong yet kind pack leader. Training and socialization are essential. It's safe to say the Min Pin is his own dog, both in breeding and attitude.

The diminutive Min Pin is a bundle of energy, full of vigor. He's highly curious and tends to investigate--and possibly eat--everything. He must be watched closely so he doesn't get into something he shouldn't. He's a skilled escape artist and should never be outside off-leash--in fact, you'll have to make sure he doesn't dart out whenever you answer the front door.

For these reasons, the Min Pin is not the dog for everyone, especially first-time dog owners. His energy and intelligence can catch his owner off guard. Without proper training and supervision, he can quickly become a tyrant in the household.

Not surprisingly, the self-assured Min Pin is a great watchdog. He's suspicious of strangers and is typically fearless when faced with a threat, be it real or imagined.

As tough and active as a Min Pin is, he's not big or sturdy enough to withstand the accidental rough handling associated with very small children. He's an excellent pet for older children who know how to treat a small dog with respect.

Did you know that min pins have dachshunds in their history?  Read about the breed at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miniature_Pinscher
Pay particular attention to the "temperment" section.

Please read about our adoption policies and procedures before calling or emailing with questions.  Many of your questions can be answered by reading our information.  Keep in mind that the first step toward adoption is to fill out an application.  Also, WE DO NOT SHIP!
