A QUIET, TIMID GIRL
About PEKE-A-BOO | |

|
Pekeaboo has found her forever home. She is now with a retired couple who have the time to devote to her like she deserves. She really surprised us with her willingness to trust; here's what Billie has to say about her first day:
Hi Michelle. What a wonderful little animal. She has trusted me, followed Tanner (Collie), and approached and given space to Borba (cat). She is a little shy of Dave(husband) but not afraid of him. I took her to Petsmart along with Tanner and had her nails trimmed with no tramma. She was oohed and aahed over by many. She got her own dish (red) and a chew bone. So far--so good. We love her! I will let you know how the week goes. Billie
Billie reported in a phone conversation about 10 days later that Boo Boo is the best dog and that they have had no problems with her. She is happy and bouncy and loves her new home. What a difference from the shy, unsocialized little dog that first came to us!
Peke-a-boo is a beautiful, cream colored, 3 year old puppy mill survivor, who is desperately trying to take in all the new experiences she is having since coming into rescue. She's unsure of herself, quiet and timid, but is making great progress. She really wants to be loved, but isn't sure if she'll be hit again, or kicked - we think that may have happened to her. She wags her tail and then when you bend down, she puppy-crawls to you, as if to say, will you be nice to me and pet me?
She was shaved when she first came to us, but her coat is growing out beautifully and will more than likely reach its full length like a normal Pekingese, in the next several months. She will require consistent grooming to keep it looking great.
Obviously, she'll need a quiet, patient home. She loves other dogs so a small, younger doggie playmate would be wonderful. She seems to be afraid of men, and gravitates toward a woman more. Also, a large dog tends to scare her.
Pekeaboo's ideal home would be with a single adult woman, grassy backyard to play in, and with another small dog companion. If you feel that you can supply all or most of these specifications, please fill out our online application.
