Chewy has found a wonderful, forever home!  He is now living with 4 humans and 1 dog and is having the time of his life!  What's even better, is that this will be Chewy's one and only home from now on, no matter what.  His human mom and dad are committed to loving this special boy forever.  He has a 4 legged brother, a cream colored German Spitz whom he loves to play with and who is about twice Chewy's size.  He also has two human brothers who are teenagers and love to play with him too.  As for his one problem of barking at whoever approaches "mom" - well, his new family is using all their dog savvy skills to correct this behavior and reports that Chewy is doing exceptionally well in this regard!  All it takes sometimes is committment, patience and some knowledge and alot of problems can be overcome.

Chewy is  a wonderful, 3 year old tiny Pom that is reported to be mixed with German Spitz.  He measures 10 in. high at the shoulders and weighs about 10.5 pounds (he needs to lose a little)!  His owner had to turn him in because her mother was sick and she needed to move to Maine to care for her.

Chewy is very friendly with people and dogs although he would prefer to be an only child.  He is very protective of his owner and will bark and act aggressively when with his human and another person approaches.  He loves his "daddy" (the husband) but will also growl, bark and lunge at him if he approaches the foster mom with Chewy on her lap.  (He does not do this with the opposite situation of sitting on hubbies lap and foster mom approaching).

He is very friendly while on a walk or at the dog park and will approach people and wag his tail and want to be petted.  He also seems to enjoy when people come over - he is very friendly and wants to be loved. He loves to go in the car and walks well on a leash.

Choo-Choo's perfect home would be with a single person without any dogs who is active and likes to go on frequent walks and trips.

Adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea treatment, heartworm test and preventative, wormings, and all other medical care needed to ensure a healthy dog.  Fees vary, based on the care required, age and needs of the animal.  We rely strictly on our adoption fees since we don't receive any outside funding.

The adoption fees we require do not cover the medical expenses, let alone the daily cost of taking care of the dogs we hope to re-home. Additional expenses are out-of-pocket.

We are ALL volunteers; there are NO paid employees in our rescue. The adoption fee is used to help with veterinary care. All of the dogs in our care are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, are up to date on all vaccines, are heartworm tested and kept on year round heartworm prevention. If they have tested positive for heartworm - they will be treated. Any and all medical issues that our vets find or that arise while in foster care are treated.

WE DO NOT ADOPT OUR DOGS TO HOMES WITH UNALTERED PETS...NO EXCEPTIONS!

In order to adopt one of these wonderful pups you will be required to: Fill out an adoption application, provide a veterinary reference, agree to a telephone/email screening, have one of our representatives conduct a home visit, complete and sign an adoption contract, and pay an adoption fee.

Please read about our adoption policies and procedures before calling or emailing with questions.  Many of your questions can be answered by reading our information.  Keep in mind that the first step toward adoption is to fill out an application.  Also, WE DO NOT SHIP!
