Here's what Maggie's new mom has to say:  Maggie gives us enough thanks every day with licks and wiggles when we pet her. She is so active, she runs around the back yard like crazy. We found she can squeeze through the fence, so we will add another layer of chicken wire to the bottom areas and never leave her unattended in the back yard. She loves to take naps on my bed between the pillows and brings one of every shoe to the center of the living room floor. She has ceased pretty much the whining and taking her plushy toys to the closet to protect them, she seems to be recovering gradually. I put her into a little sweater the other day and she slept in it when it rained those two days, it got a little chilly up here. She seemed to appreciate it plus the cover I put over her before she slept in her little bed, she goes to bed nicely, with a little toy to keep her company, a cover over her and a sweater if it is cold. Yes, I am an oldish woman that will spoil Miss Maggie Mae rotten. I will promise though to always do what is best for her and keep her in line. She loves to tear up newspapers and tries to tear up the rug, which is too heavy for her to lift up, but she tries. I tell her no when she attacks the news paper and she listens to me. Oh, she can sit on command now, well, as long as I have a goodie in my hand, but one day, she will sit just for the pleasure of sitting when told to. I still keep her leashed out in the front. She doesn’t stick close to us, but likes to take off with her nose to the ground, but I feel with time, she will learn to stay within about 10 feet of us when we are working out there. I will try that line that you told us about, stretched between two points with her on a leash attached to it. When I put her on a line at ground level attached to something, I think she deliberately gets tangled around as many things as possible so I have to stop weeding, of course I am sure it’s not deliberate, but it seems like it. She will have a home with us forever, and only happy things happen to her if I have any say about it. She weighs in at about 8 pounds, which the vet said was fine, he said that more fat dogs die sooner than a little skinnier ones. Best wishes, Dorothy, Miss Maggie Mae & Chuck PS Chuck treats her very carefully, lifting her and petting her, I think he is smitten too.

Most of our dogs will require secure, fenced yards.  We will check this by a home visit or if out of town, via satellite photos.  If these are not available we will ask another rescue to conduct a home visit.

Adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea treatment, heartworm test and preventative, wormings, and all other medical care needed to ensure a healthy dog.  Fees vary, based on the care required, age and needs of the animal.  We rely strictly on our adoption fees since we don't receive any outside funding.

The adoption fees we require do not cover the medical expenses, let alone the daily cost of taking care of the dogs we hope to re-home. Additional expenses are out-of-pocket
We are ALL volunteers; there are NO paid employees in our rescue. The adoption fee is used to help with veterinary care. All of the dogs in our care are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, are up to date on all vaccines, are heartworm tested and kept on year round heartworm prevention. If they have tested positive for heartworm - they will be treated. Any and all medical issues that our vets find or that arise while in foster care are treated.

WE DO NOT ADOPT OUR DOGS TO HOMES WITH UNALTERED PETS...NO EXCEPTIONS!

In order to adopt one of these wonderful pups you will be required to: Fill out an adoption application, provide a veterinary reference, agree to a telephone/email screening, have one of our representatives conduct a home visit, complete and sign an adoption contract, and pay an adoption fee.
