Our newest little addition, a long haired mini doxie, who nearly didn't make it out of the shelter with her life!. She was set to be euthanize d that day because she had been snappy with the staff at this out of area shelter. We volunteered to take her but then there was a mix up and they didn't load her up on the van. We begged them to go back for her and luckily, they finally agreed to. Well guess what? She's a love and doesn't have a mean bone in her body - she was just terrified. She's about 10 mos. old, 7 lbs. 

She can be a bit of the diva with other dogs though.  She would prefer to be the alpha and doesn't have a problem letting them know that, unless the dog is bigger than she.  Then she realizes, hmmm, better mind my manners!  She is an energetic young dog so would really benefit from another young dog to play with.  Also, she doesn't like to be left alone for long periods of time and will bark.  Maggie loves her caretaker, takes to women easily and loves to be in your lap.  She likes to play with balls and will play fetch.  She sleeps in a crate without accidents at night. 

As with most rescue/shelter dogs, he or she may or may not be housebroken, or at the least need a readjustment /re-training period. If you are not able or willing to retrain a dog with housebreaking in a gentle, repetitious manner please DO NOT APPLY.  NEW DOGS REQUIRE SPECIAL HANDLING, TIME and CARE.
