About Caleb | |
|
|
Caleb originally came from a family who could not afford his care. He is 10 years old, and such a sweet, special boy. He most likely did not have any vet care during his life, and as a result has suffered. But he has had a thorough check up from our vet, an extenxive dental cleaining (he has 4 teeth left), and is ready to go to a home who will appreciate him and love him for the remaining time he has left (5 to 7 years - poms are a long-lived breed).
Because he was neglected, Caleb also suffers from a few other issues: alopecia, which is severe hair loss and hip problems. In the approximately 6 weeks we have had him in our care, his hair has started growing back (see pics). Sue, our current Pom Queen, has done a fabulous job of taking care of this boy and getting him ready for adoption. Caleb's hip problems do not cause him pain. He is able to walk (not for long walks, though) and get around just fine. Caleb would love a home with a retired person who could hold him on their lap and cuddle him like he loves and of coursae, no kids. He is such a sweet, lovable boy and and would make someone a fabulous companion.
As with most rescue/shelter dogs, he or she may or may not be housebroken, or at the least need a readjustment /re-training period. If you are not able or willing to retrain a dog with housebreaking in a gentle, repetitious manner please DO NOT APPLY. NEW DOGS REQUIRE SPECIAL HANDLING, TIME and CARE. MAKE SURE YOU ARE WILLING TO MAKE THIS COMMITMENT BEFORE APPLYING. We require adopters to first fill out our adoption app online. You cannot proceed with the adoption without it. This application has been developed using over 25 years of experience. It helps the adopter and us to make only the beginning of a good match.
WE DO NOT ADOPT OUR DOGS TO HOMES WITH UNALTERED PETS...NO EXCEPTIONS! WHY? CLICK ON SPAY/NEUTER ON THE LEFT HAND MENU.
In order to adopt one of these wonderful pups please see the side menu under adoption info.
