This one year old girl is very special - she is possibly a mix of a rare breed called the Portugese Podengo (wire haired)..  She weighs about 15 lbs. and is an extremely quiet, well behaved, polite little girl - until you get her in the vicinity of another young, playful dog - then the game is on!   She becomes very energetic, very playful and wants to go, go, go!  Nora has the long legs of the sight hound and is not as small as the yorkie.  This girl would benefit most from having another young, playful dog as a companion.  This baby will also need a secure, fenced yard as she is most likely to want to go exploring and hunting.  Please read up on the breed for more info.

Podengo Portugueso is a moderately-sized sighthound type with a well-proportioned head, flat skull and pronounced stop. The nose is usually brown, but may be black. The ears are large, naturally upright, triangular and highly mobile, turning forward to catch sound. The muzzle is straight. The chest is muscular and prominent. The small, oblique eyes are brown to honey in color. The cat-like feet have well-arched toes with hard, strong pads. The back line only has a slight arch. The neck is strong and muscular without dewlap. When the dog is calm the tail hangs down; when the dog is excited or in motion the tail is horizontal. The coat comes in two varieties: smooth and wirehaired. The smooth coat is hard and longer than that of most sighthounds. The wirehaired coat is medium-long, shaggy and coarse.

As with most rescue/shelter dogs, he or she may or may not be housebroken, or at the least need a readjustment /re-training period.
