This is Spirit... Her foster mom has named her this for a reason. She has had to endure much in her short life of just a year. She was abused, kept in a crate 24/7 and only taken out to be punched and kicked at by the children in the family. Spirit did try to run away when she was let out to go potty - but unfortunately was in heat and so ended up pregnant.  The man that rescued her couldn't stand to see her be treated like this anymore, so took her home not knowing that she was pregnant.  When it became obvious, it was too late to do anything about it.  This poor baby endured over 18 hours of labor and was unable to birth 4 of the puppies.  Her rescuer was not able to afford vet care, so we helped out.  The babies were delivered by c-section but it was too late.  They did not survive in spite of our best efforts.

Spirit needs a special home, som eone who is patient, kind and caring. This little girl deserves so much more. We as humans, rescuers and lovers of life need to give this second chance to her.

As with most rescue/shelter dogs, he or she may or may not be housebroken, or at the least need a readjustment /re-training period. If you are not able or willing to retrain a dog with housebreaking in a gentle, repetitious manner please DO NOT APPLY.  NEW DOGS REQUIRE SPECIAL HANDLING, TIME and CARE. MAKE SURE YOU ARE WILLING TO MAKE THIS COMMITMENT BEFORE APPLYING.
